Somebody needs to stop David Fizdale from making these player comparisons
By Keith Parish
Knowledgeable Grizzlies fans had been waiting with bated breath for David Fizdale to drop his first player comparison as the new coach of the Knicks. After all, Fizdale had made a name for himself by frequently comparing Memphis players to much more accomplished players. Such as calling Tyreke Evans his Dwyane Wade, drawing parallels between Wade Baldwin and Russell Westbrook or Ivan Rabb and Chris Bosh, and then famously comparing the skill sets of Chandler Parsons and LeBron James,
Well, Fizdale did not disappoint with his first player comparison in New York. Quite the opposite- he knocked it out of the park in saying Lance Thomas could be the Knicks Draymond Green, by “pushing” for First Team All-Defense and being a hub of the offense. The man clearly has a knack for this sort of thing.
On the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast, we celebrate not only this new outlandish player comp, but we also look at Fizdale’s record with the Grizzlies and wonder why there is so much universal acclaim for his hire. In addition, the following topics are also covered:
- Was the Celtics victory over the Sixers in anyways a fluke?
- Why does Masai Ujiri never receive any of the blame for the Raptors postseason struggles?
- Did Rodney Hood seal his departure from Cleveland by refusing to enter the game? Where could he end up next year?
- Are we worried that James Harden is going to disappear against the Warriors?
- How good are the Pelicans compared to the other teams in the playoffs? Could they beat all the Eastern Conference teams in a series?
