The Celtics are on the precipice of making the Eastern Conference Finals despite not having Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving — and despite missing Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart for multiple games in the playoffs.

In the first round, Boston leaned on their home court advantage to defeat the Bucks in seven games. The 76ers were supposed to be a different story, as the Celtics were 4 to 1 underdogs according to Vegas. But so far, Al Horford, Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum have excelled and guided Boston to a 3-0 lead against Philadelphia.

Rozier hasn’t turned the ball over since the first half of Game 1 of the series, while playing 39 minutes per game and averaging 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Tatum is leading the team in scoring at 24 points per game. And Horford, their lone All-Star, has frustrated Joel Embiid and come through in the clutch.

To discuss how these players have been able to flourish, James Holas (@snottiedrippen) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. James is a contributor for Bballbreakdown.com and appears on the Dunktales podcast, among many others. In addition to examining the Celtics’ success so far this postseason, the following topics are covered:

  • Can Rozier carry his strong play in the playoffs into a backup role behind Kyrie Irving next season?
  • Is Gordon Hayward almost superfluous because of Tatum and Brown?
  • Have our opinions of Embiid and Ben Simmons changed drastically because of their difficulties against Boston?
  • Considering salaries, which duo would you rather build around: Embiid/Simmons or Rudy Gobert/Donovan Mitchell?
  • How many of the games remaining in this NBA season will be any good?
