The Winnipeg Jets and the Vegas Golden Knights will begin their Western Conference Final series on Saturday night. Neither team has advanced this far in their history (this being Vegas’ first year). Check below for full TV listings, streaming information and more.
We’ve gone into detail already about how the Washington Capitals are making their first Eastern Conference Final appearance with Alexander Ovechkin. Now it’s time to brag on the Vegas Golden Knights.
Behind stunning performances nightly from goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, Vegas is advancing to the Western Conference Final to face the Winnipeg Jets as the greatest expansion team that ever was. Don’t try to dispute it; there’s no point.
The Golden Knights come into this Round 3 contest having swept the Los Angeles Kings in the Quarterfinals. Then they traveled up the coast and knocked off the San Jose Sharks in six. The latter fact is unfortunate, in that we won’t witness any more confusing towels from San Jose.
The good news is that Vegas does get to continue trolling everyone in its path. It’s like the Golden Knights are taking full advantage of finally becoming a franchise or something. After scoring only seven goals in the four games against Los Angeles, they exploded for 22 in the Semifinals, so opposing netminder Connor Hellebuyck has his work cut out for him.

For the Jets, they advance to the Western Conference Final for the first time, as well. This is an incredibly fun and talented team that just knocked off the President’s Trophy winning Nashville Predators in seven games, so we look forward to what they have in store for Vegas. Led by a young group consisting of Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Hellebuyck, this matchup could become a classic.
Winnipeg took apart the Minnesota Wild in Round 1, scoring 16 goals in five games. It then scored 27 against the Preds, so like we mentioned with Hellebuyck, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is going to have to shine if his team hopes to keep this fever dream alive.
Likewise, the Jets have to be hoping Laine finds some semblance of his incredible regular season. He scored only one goal in seven games against Nashville, though he did have six points. He has three goals through 12 postseason contests. It’s all hands on deck in this one on Saturday, so buckle up.
Players to watch, Game 1
Winnipeg Jets: Mark Scheifele. The best known player that nobody knows about (?), according to Pierre McGuire, torched Nashville with seven goals and 11 points, and he now leads these playoffs with 11 goals total to his credit. There are certainly a few other names out there for Conn Smythe, but Scheifele has to be in the conversation. With Laine struggling to hit the net, Winnipeg will count on him to come through yet again.
Vegas: Marc-Andre Fleury. The man they call Flower has blossomed in this postseason. In what might be the duel to watch, Fleury will have to make a stand yet again while facing the explosive Jets offense. We can’t wait to see him going shot after shot against Scheifele and company. So far, he’s posted a sublime 1.53 goals against average and .951 save percentage in 10 games. He also has four shutouts and, like Scheifele, has to be in the running for MVP of these playoffs. Something absolutely must and will give.
