Panthers tweeting about Julio Jones will drive Falcons fans insane

ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 31: Julio Jones

Julio Jones is working with Cam Newton at a football camp, and the Carolina Panthers tweeted out a picture of the duo. This won’t sit well in Atlanta.

Julio Jones will be playing with the Atlanta Falcons next season. Anything to the contrary would be a considerable shock across the NFL. Jones remains one of the best players in the game, but that’s not going to stop Falcons fans from losing their minds on Friday afternoon.

Working out with Cam Newton at a football camp, the Panthers tweeted out a picture of the pair and tagged the Falcons to say hello. After all that has gone on this offseason — Jones wiped his social media of any Falcons talk — Jones being seen with Cam Newton is going to be the cause of chaos.

Additionally, Jones hasn’t been at OTAs, although he maintains he is not angling for a new deal. His contract currently has three years remaining with $39.2 million to be paid, making it an underpay for a top-five receiver in the league. Over the past four seasons, Jones has averaged more than 1,500 yards per season.

So why are Falcons fans going to be riled up about the tweet? Because the Panthers are one of Atlanta’s main rivals, and the whole Instagram wipe has people in a mild panic. Factor in that Jones is a no-show at voluntary OTAs and the first-round choice of Calvin Ridley, and there’s reasons to worry if you squint hard enough.

Next: Best NFL player from each state

Ultimately, the Falcons are going to be one of the best teams in the league with Jones as a centerpiece. Atlanta is loading up with one more long run with Matt Ryan before rebuilding at the start of the next decade.

Relax, Atlanta. Everything is going to be alright.
