Stephen Curry breaks yet another 3-point record!

Stephen Curry broke the NBA Finals record for 3-pointers in a single game, as the Warriors finished a blowout of the Cavaliers.

Tonight, in Game 2 of the 2018 NBA Finals, Stephen Curry broke a record that, honestly, it’s surprising he did not already hold as he made more 3-pointers in a single NBA Finals game than any one else ever has. With just over three and a half minutes remaining in the game, Curry dribbled for a few seconds while Cavaliers forward Cedi Osman leaned in to guard him one on one before Curry stepped back to his left, launching a 3-pointer that swished through the net, giving the Warriors a 21 point lead and himself the aforementioned record.

This record is yet another on the way of Curry’s seemingly inevitable journey to break every 3-point-related record in league history, as he already holds the record for most 3-pointers in a single game, most consecutive games with a 3-pointer, and most 3-pointers in a single season with 402, among several others.

Tonight was a testament to how Curry’s shooting can ignite the Warriors, giving them an extra spark that cannot be found elsewhere, electrifying both his teammates and his crowd. Stephen Curry is perhaps the best shooter in NBA history, seemingly able to make any shot at any time from any distance, regardless of the situation or how tightly the defense is playing him. Accordingly, it feels like only a matter of time until Curry comes to hold even more records than he already does. Already, after just 87 playoff games, Curry is threatening to pass Ray Allen and Reggie Miller to become the all time leader in career playoff 3-pointers, a record he could potentially break by the end of these Finals.

The previous mark for most 3s in a Finals game was held by Ray Allen who made eight triples in the 2010 NBA Finals, also in Game 2. As soon as Curry emerged as a superstar in 2013, and began making deep playoff runs, it quickly became a record that appeared a lot less safe than it had before. Now, as the series moves to Cleveland for Game 3, fans will await to see what future shooting displays Curry has in store and what records are next to fall.
