Los Angeles Dodgers

Manny Machado, SS

The Dodgers just swept the Rockies and pulled themselves back into the race for the NL West. They’re lucky that it was easy to get back in it thanks to the struggles of the Diamondbacks and Rockies. They actually have the best run differential in their division and could continue to rise in the standings.

However, with no Corey Seager, they have a hole at shortstop. The Dodgers are a team that loves to add big names to make a splash on their roster. So, they should go get Manny Machado, the best player available at this trade deadline.

This trade makes too much sense not to happen. The Dodgers need a shortstop, and like the last few years, they need a player to finally push them over the top. The Orioles know that they aren’t going to be able to resign Machado after this year so will be looking to get whatever than can for him. Luckily for the Orioles, he’s making the job of selling him exceedingly easy.

Machado is in the midst of the best season of his career with an OPS above 1.000 and the league lead in total bases. Not to mention that he is second in the American League in RBIs and tied for third in home runs. Top that off with his quality contact 9.8% of the time, good for top-15 in the league and you have a dominant force in the MLB this season.

A lineup with Machado, Justin Turner, and a resurgent Matt Kemp will strike fear into opposing pitchers. The Dodgers must do what it takes to bring Machado to LA.
