The Milwaukee Brewers lead the National League, and they could add an interesting piece to the club.
The Brew Crew are a club that has mashed offensively throughout the season. Although they are in the middle of the pack right now, the team has the bats to skyrocket up the rankings. First baseman Jesus Aguilar has had a break out season, hitting .313 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI. But, their biggest weakness is their pitching.
The bullpen hasn’t been great other than lefty Josh Hader and Corey Knebel, who is injured. Also, the starting staff only has one guy with an ERA under 4.00, which is Jhoulys Chacin. With that said, the club has the resources to acquire a dominant arm. According to a report, the Brewers are interesting in acquiring righty Noah Syndergaard.
That would be a huge move, considering the Mets are still on the fence about selling or not. So, the club may still be taking calls on the big righty. Milwaukee has the pieces to get it done for sure, as they have controllable MLB assets as well as prospects. On the MLB assets side, the club has slugger Domingo Santana up for grabs as well as Keon Broxton or Josh Hader.
For prospects, the club would have to sacrifice Brandon Woodruff or Keston Hiura. Monte Harrison is also a break out prospect the New York Mets could be interested in. For New York, they should make the transition into a rebuild. The club has the chips to make it happen and replenish their farm system. With that said, the Mets will have plenty of suitors vying for a controllable arm.
The two clubs look like fits to match up, seeing that the Brewers have what it takes to make a move. Whether it will happen or not is a different story. If Milwaukee does get Syndergaard, they will shove themselves in as a deep postseason team. He would clearly be an upgrade over anyone in the rotation, and he still has a few years of control.

If the Brewers could acquire a controllable guy like Syndergaard and then a rental like J.A. Happ, that would put them over the top even more. Overall, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There is at least a possibility that this could come to fruition, but Brewer’s fans shouldn’t hold their breath. Neither should Mets’ fans, because they would probably die from exhaustion.
