Everything you need to know about the NHLPA Golf Classic 2018
The time of year has once again reappeared, where NHL players show the rest of the world that they can translate their skills from the ice to the fairway at the 26th annual NHLPA Golf Classic.
The offseason for NHL players is often a time to decompress, see families and maybe get a bit of a summer tan. But at the end of the day, these guys are born and bred to compete, so it makes sense that they take their wicked slap shots out to a few tee boxes. And what better way to keep that competition bone fresh than to cream a few of their competitors in the name of charity?
Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario will play host to the 26th annual NHLPA Golf Classic which is set to ‘tee off’ on July 11, 2018. This classic will combine players’ love of the game of golf with the philanthropic aspect of their careers…allowing the players to choose a specific charity to donate their winnings to.
This annual tournament, hosted by the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), will find some of the league’s top players battling the elements and each other to donate thousands of dollars to their favorite charities. Since its inception, the NHLPA Golf Classic tournament has donated over $3.6 million to various charities, including $125,000 in 2017 alone.
The tournament is set to host 26 talented NHL players including the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Nazim Kadri, Connor Brown, Adam Cracknell, and Josh Leivo; the Dallas Stars’ Devin Shore and Tyler Seguin; and the Philadelphia Flyers’ Scott Laughton and James van Riemsdyk, just to name a few.
