LeBron James is going to love Josh Hart
By Keith Parish
The Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of building a summer league dynasty. After winning the vaguely-meaningless tournament last July, they have advanced to the second round as the top seed among all 30 teams. Last year, it was then rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma leading the charge. Right now, it’s another one of their 2017 draft picks who is dominating: Josh Hart.
Hart is currently the second leading scorer at Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 22.5 points while hitting over 42% of his eight 3-point attempts per game. He looks to be a prototypical wing 3 and D player that could thrive alongside LeBron James. But how much of his summer success will carryover into the regular season? Can he maintain his shooting percentages while also defending other NBA two guards? And will he be able to supplant the established veterans ahead of him on Luke Walton’s depth chart?
To help answer these questions and more, Anthony Irwin (@anthonyirwinnba) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Anthony hosts the Locked on Lakers podcast and is a writer for Silver Screen and Roll. Does he think Hart should play over Lance Stephenson or even Kentavious Caldwell-Pope? Are there any other members of the Lakers summer league roster who may contribute next year? And who have been the most impressive and disappointing rookies in Las Vegas?
