DraftKings PGA: 2018 Dell Technologies Championship

The PGA Tour moves from New Jersey to Massachusetts this week for the Dell Technologies Championship and another great DraftKings PGA slate. Bryson DeChambeau ran away with the tournament on Saturday at The Northern Trust and now leads the FedEx Cup. We will see if he can parlay this great form into a Ryder Cup spot as well.

TPC Boston will host the Dell Technologies Championship (formerly the Deutsche Bank Championship). The 7,342 yard par-71 will play slightly easier than Ridgewood. The rough will be more manageable, and the bigger hitters will have the advantage, but small greens with difficult pin placements require pinpoint accuracy. Last year, Justin Thomas (-17) held off Jordan Spieth and Marc Leishman for the trophy. Rory McIlroy (-15) was victorious in 2016 coming from 6-strokes back of Paul Casey. Do not get too caught up on past results, but know that the leader-board tends to favor bombers and ball-strikers.

Key Stats

The keys stats that I am focusing on this week for The Dell Technologies Championship DraftKings PGA GPP contests:

Tee to Green Gained

Dell Technologies Championship – Picks

$9,300 Justin Rose – 6th in FedEx Cup

The guy misses 1 cut and all of a sudden he is relegated to the 9th highest priced golfer? Rose is probably the second or third best golfer in this field and he is a favorite to win almost every single week. He is playing incredible this year (he is the 2nd ranked golfer in my model), and if he is healthy he is a candidate to win every week. Last week Rose just couldn’t putt. If his back was hurting him I think it would affect his entire game and not just his flat-stick. If everyone is jumping off, its time to jump on.

$9,100 John Rahm – 17th in FedEx Cup

Last week was not a Rahm course. Rahm is one of the best players in the world, but he has a tendency to shoot very high numbers on very difficult courses. That is my explanation why he keeps missing US Open cuts. He struggles out of thick rough. Luckily for Rahm, this week suits his game far better. That is probably why he finished 4th here last year shooting par or better in all 4 rounds.

$8,900 Hideki Matsuyama – 58th in FedEx Cup

Matsuyama has found something in his game. 10 of his last 12 rounds have been in the 60’s, and that is on some really difficult courses. He is striking the ball brilliantly, and all he needs is his putter to catch fire for a couple of rounds to get back in that winners circle. Love the form, and his course history is extremely stable (T23, T15, T25). Play him with confidence!

Dell Technologies Championship – Values

$7,900 Paul Casey – 20th in FedEx Cup

My model always loves Casey, and I am going to listen to it this week. Casey has struggled as of late by Paul Casey standards, but I am playing the course history card. In 2016, Casey squandered a 54 hole lead by shooting a +2 in the final round to finish 2nd by 2 strokes. In 2017, Casey went into the final round 1 stroke off the lead and finished with a 1-under to tie for 4th. His caddie is a big Patriots fan, and the gallery should be behind Casey this week.

More from FanSided

$7,400 Kevin Na – 19th in FedEx Cup

Na is making cuts with solid finishes, yet his price never really reflects how good of a player he really is. Would you believe me if I told you that you only have to pay $7,400 for the golfer who finished T6 at this tournament in 2017 and rides in with a form of T15, T19, T31, T31, T51, and 1st in his last 6 events? That golfer is Kevin Na. Please take advantage of that price.

$7,200 Xander Schauffele – 34th in FedEx Cup

You never really know what kind of golf you are going to get from Xander Schauffele. He missed the cut at The Northern Trust, and has missed 4 of 10 cuts. But dispersed in those missed cuts is a T2 at The Players, T6 at the US Open, and a T2 at The Open. At $7,200 the upside is there for sure, and he needs to play well to have a shot at the Ryder Cup.
