Mains Mavericks – Week 16 DraftKings NFL GPP Salary Savers
Mains Mavericks – Week 16 DraftKings NFL GPP Salary Savers
Main’s Mavericks is providing weekly Draftkings NFL DFS GPP contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 16 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that Week 16 DraftKings NFL $1,000,000 lineup.

Week 16 DraftKings NFL DFS GPP Salary Savers
Nick Foles 4,700 vs HOU
Do I trust Nick Foles? Absolutely not. Dose his match-up with the Houston Texans pose tremendous value? Yes. Foles led his team to a victory in LA a few days ago. Foles did not put up spectacular numbers, but he played spectacular. He looked confident, comfortable, and goofy as ever. Everyone is going to be playing Deshaun Watson this week, including me. Watson putting up huge numbers means we need answers from Nick Foles, who has been known to put a team on his back. Foles in this game flow is just too tempting to not throw him into a few lineups. This game is one of my favorite stacks of the week.
Elijah McGuire 4,700 vs GBP
I was impressed with what I watched from Eli McGuire during last Saturday’s game against the Texans. Houston has a solid run defense, and Eli struggled to get anything going on the ground. His numbers are putrid, but what impressed me was his balance of agility and strength. When I think of a 3rd string running back I almost exclusively think of a scat back. McGuire has some size, good speed, and runs upright making him look bigger than what he is listed. I am a fan of the 2nd year man out of Louisiana, and I love the match-up against Green Bay. The Pack struggled against Howard and Cohen last week, with the two backs combining for over 125 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns. Additionally, the team might be missing their best interior lineman, Kenny Clark, for another game.

Jordan Howard 4,200 @ SFF
Howard has quietly racked up 237 rushing yards and a touchdown over his last three games. Those are solid fantasy numbers. Howard’s role continues to grow in this new Matt Nagy offense, and he and Tarik Cohen are co-habitating efficiently. The downside of Jordan Howard is his lack of role in the passing game, catching only 3 receptions for 21 yards during those same three games. Howard does not have the best hands, but he was an effective pass-catcher his rookie year, so we can only hope that he can integrate into the passing game as well. Despite that shortcoming, the 49er defense is susceptible to the run, and if the Bears can get up early than game flow will favor the big back.
Robby Anderson 4,500 vs GBP
Anderson is dripping with talent. It is not fair for a 6’3″ 190lbs man to have 4.3 track star speed. The 3rd year receiver out of Temple has become a favorite target of rookie QB Sam Darnold‘s. Anderson has turned 26 targets into 220 yards and 2 TDs over his last 3 games. Anderson torched the Texans last week for 96 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions. This week he is matched up against a Packers squad that struggles against opposing wide receivers. Anderson will be chalk after of a solid week 15, but I will be eating the chalk in a wonderful week 16 match-up.
Zay Jones 3,700 @ NEP
Jones has 24 targets in his last three games. The numbers are not as impressive, with 8 catches for 100 yards over that same stretch. Zay struggled matched-up against Trumaine Johnson and Darius Slay in back-to-back weeks. In week 16, Zay will likely draw coverage from Stephon Gilmore. The veteran CB has been decent this year, but by no means a shut down corner like what they are paying him. Another story line to watch is the availability of Isaiah McKenzie. The speedster is nursing an ankle injury, and is questionable for Sunday’s bout. It is always scary starting one of Josh Allen‘s wide receivers, as the rookie QB has the accuracy of high schooler and his millennial attention span doesn’t even make it to the 2nd read. If Allen actually throws the ball this week, Zay should be in line for a healthy complement of targets.
Ricky Seals-Jones 2,900 vs LAR
Seals-Jones had 8 targets last week, playing 81% of Arizona’s snaps in a big loss to Atlanta. Seals-Jones upside is always capped because of his struggling rookie quarterback, but at this price everything is upside. The Rams defense averages nearly 14 DK points per game to the tight end position and the entire defense is royally struggling right now. I do not see any heart on that side of the ball. Seals-Jones finished with 4 catches on 6 targets in week 2 against the Rams.
