2018 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Odds And Prediction
Bowl season is finally upon us! We are right in the middle of this. After the Christmas break, we have at least three games per day through Saturday. The first game up on Saturday is the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. Forget Chick-Fil-A. I love the place. But seriously, this is and always will be the Peach Bowl no matter how much money you throw at it. Just like the Gator Bowl is always the Gator Bowl.

(10)Florida vs. (7)Michigan(-6.5) at Atlanta, FL(4):
Florida 9-3, 5-3(t-2nd SEC East)
Wins: vs. Charleston Southern(53-6), vs. Colorado State(48-10), at Tennessee(47-21), at Mississippi State(13-6), vs. LSU(27-19), at Vanderbilt(37-27), vs. South Carolina(35-31), vs. Idaho(63-10), at Florida State(41-14)
Losses: vs. Kentucky(16-27), vs. Georgia(17-36), vs. Missouri(17-38)
Record vs. bowl teams: 4-3
It was another average year for Florida. Feleipe Franks was…..average. The offense? Average. Only the defense was above average, and even at times, they looked average. Like when Kentucky beat the Gators for the first time in 35 years. Or in the losses to Missouri and Georgia.
Lost in this painfully average season was Franks growing up in the second half of the season. Over the last four games, Franks didn’t turn the ball over once. That was a big reason Florida won three of those four. Is this a sign of things to come?
Michigan 10-2 8-1(2nd Big Ten(14):
Wins: vs. Western Michigan(49-3), vs. SMU(49-20), vs. Nebraska(56-10), vs. Utah(28-24), at Northwestern(20-17), vs. Maryland(42-21), vs. Wisconsin(38-13), at Michigan State(21-7), vs. Penn State(42-7), vs. Indiana(31-20)
Losses: at Notre Dame(17-24), at Ohio State(39-62)
Record vs. bowl teams: 5-2
Shea Patterson was supposed to ease the QB woes that have limited Michigan’s offense since Jim Harbaugh showed up. That was not the case. Patterson played better down the stretch, but that was also because of the strong running of Karan Higdon.
One thing that stayed constant for the Wolverines is the elite defense. They were just good. They were elite. Until Ohio State. Michigan had only allowed 149 points through 11 games. They allowed 62 to the Buckeyes.
Prediction:
Michigan will be missing that strong runner in Higdon, along with an offensive lineman and two key defensive players in Rashan Gary and Devin Bush. Perhaps the most telling thing is that the line is still nearly a touchdown even after Michigan losing such key pieces.
It should be base on past history. These two teams have played four times, all since 2003. Michigan has won all four with three of them coming by more than a touchdown. That said, with all of the Michigan pieces sitting, especially Higdon, I don’t see this offense getting it done. This could be a game of field goals. Take Florida and the points and the under on 51. That’s way too high!
Pick: Florida
