Bowl season is finally upon us! We are right in the middle of this. After the Christmas break, we have at least three games per day through Saturday. The second one on Tuesday is the NewEra Pinstripe Bowl at good old (new) Yankee Stadium.

Miami(FL)(-3.5) vs. Wisconsin at New York, NY(2):

Miami(FL) 7-5, 4-4(t-3rd ACC Coastal):

Wins: vs. Savannah State(77-0), at Toledo(49-24), vs. Florida International(31-17), vs. North Carolina(47-10), vs. Florida State(28-27), at Virginia Tech(38-14), vs. Pittsburgh(24-3)

Losses: vs. LSU(17-33), at Virginia(13-16), at Boston College(14-27), vs. Duke(12-20), at Georgia Tech(21-27)

Record vs. bowl teams: 3-5

Miami suffered inconsistency from both quarterbacks here. N’Kosi Perry took the job, but couldn’t keep it. Malik Rosier started the season as the starter, and has taken the job back a couple of times, but hasn’t been able to hold it. This has really limited the Miami offense. Now with leading receiver Jeff Thomas transferring, the receiver corps take a big hit as well.

Wisconsin 7-5, 5-4(t-2nd Big 10(14) West):

Wins: vs. Western Kentucky(34-3), vs. New Mexico(45-14), at Iowa(28-17), vs. Nebraska(41-24), vs. Illinois(49-20), vs. Rutgers(31-17), at Purdue(47-44)

Losses: vs. BYU(21-24), at Michigan(13-38), at Northwestern(17-31), at Penn State(10-22), vs. Minnesota(15-37)

Record vs. bowl teams: 2-5

Jonathan Taylor is still an elite back, but injuries and inconsistency from the QB position derailed the Badgers. In all fairness, this happened even before Hornibrook got hurt. Jack Coan will start the Pinstripe Bowl, and this extra month of practice should really make the difference.

The normally dominant Wisconsin defense was gouged by rival Minnesota in the final game after being lit up by Purdue the week before. There are some serious questions about the unit.

Prediction:

This is one of those games that you can safely bypass in betting pools. The line is down to -3 nearly universally and opened at that in most places. Both teams are trying to find the quarterback that can win this game for them. I honestly don’t know who that will be, but Miami’s woes in the running game and the passing game have me taking Wisconsin straight up. I also like the under on this game. I think it is going to be an offensive display of offense here.

Pick: Wisconsin
