Prior to the Sugar Bowl, there was some mascot on mascot crime between Texas and Georgia.
Texas and Georgia figured to provide some excitement and drama when the two meet in the Sugar Bowl, but there’s a strong chance nothing tops the pre-game drama involving the school’s mascots.
Yes, there was some intense mascot drama that only college sports can provide. About an hour before kick, Georgia’s bulldog mascot UGA and his handler were walking toward Bevo, the Longhorn mascot of Texas when things took an ugly turn.
Bevo look a charge at UGA, the bodies hit the floor, and UGA was yanked out of the picture before he got gored, which really would have put a damper on the whole Sugar Bowl.
Thankfully, zero animals were harmed in this video that went viral and fans were bored with the Rose Bowl.

Good luck finding something like this at an NFL, NBA, NHL or MLB game. It’s just not happening, and that’s why live mascots should forever remain a part of college athletics.
This is a far cry from the afternoon when Bevo and UGA looked like best friends in this pre-game snap.

Fans will have to tune in for the Sugar Bowl on ESPN to see if the pre-game histrionics between UGA and Bevo carry over into the game.
Of course, it won’t and this is just reason 1,456,931 why college football is the greatest darn sport in the world. Let’s just hope that the pre-game skirmish between Bevo and UGA will not result in any bad blood moving forward.
