2019 NFL Draft: Atlanta Falcons 7-round mock
Round 5: Bobby Okereke
The Falcons defense fell off a cliff when Deion Jones was out due to injury last year. The front office would be smart to acquire some insurance via the draft.
Bobby Okereke doesn’t have the size to be an every down starter, but he has the speed to really play well in nickel packages for the Falcons. Given the offenses they face regularly in the NFC South, selecting a speed linebacker would be a savvy move for Quinn and his coaching staff.
Round 6: Wyatt Ray
Every team in the NFL needs as many edge rushers as possible. Wyatt Ray isn’t the finished article, but he had some big games last year for Boston College. The Falcons would be smart to take a shot on him late in the draft. It wouldn’t shock us if he turned out to be more consistent than Vic Beasley within the next couple of years.
Round 7: Mitch Hyatt
The Falcons don’t need to draft a starting tackle, but adding some additional depth would be a good plan for the Falcons. Mitch Hyatt doesn’t come into the draft with a lot of buzz, but he was a terrific player for Clemson during his career. Going against their star-studded defensive line in practice every week should have him relatively well-prepared for life in the NFL.
