High Value PG

Players costing $6,250 or under

Derrick White (at BOS – $5,200): Needs 25 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 36.5 fantasy points against Houston. White bounced back from a bad game against the Heat with a great game against the Rockets. The Celtics are on a back-to-back, which should help White and the Spurs. He had 36.75 fantasy points against them on Dec. 31 if you’re looking for a little extra confidence in him. He’s been good more often than not this season as long as the minutes are there. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.

Ish Smith (at GS – $4,300): Needs 21 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 22.25 fantasy points against Portland. It’s a back-to-back for both teams and I don’t know what to make of the Pistons overall, but Smith is playing enough minutes to justify this salary. And if the Warriors are in coast mode then that’s better news for the Pistons and Smith. It’s a rough night for value and being the end of the season, you never what weird thing will happen. At least Smith gets the minutes and opportunities. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Alex Caruso (vs SAC – $4,100): Needs 19.7 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 24.5 fantasy points against Brooklyn. Caruso is getting big minutes at the end of the season, has flashed a high ceiling and now gets the Knicks. I don’t know what the Lakers are doing overall, but Caruso is benefitting right now. Much like Smith, he’s getting the minutes and opportunities and making the most of them. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.
