The Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers kick off their second-round playoff series. Here’s everything you need to watch Game 1.

The Trail Blazers are riding high coming into the second round, with Damian Lillard’s destruction of the Thunder and 50-foot series winner providing a heady dose of optimism. Both Lillard and McCollum are rolling and they received strong first-round performances from their supporting cast, including Mo Harkless, Al-Farouq Aminu and Enes Kanter. The latter is banged up with an injured shoulder but giving more minutes to Zach Collins might be a good thing given Kanter’s defensive deficiencies and the impending matchup with Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets advanced to the second round with a seven-game series win over the Spurs. They were pushed much further than the Blazers but had the opportunity to work out a lot of kinks. Jamal Murray had one of his strongest performances of the series in Game 7. Jokic has dominated and the entire team has seen the level of intensity and execution it will take to keep advancing. The Blazers are a tough matchup (Nylon Calculus win projections peg the Nuggets as just 60/40 favorites in the series) but Denver knows what they’re up against and has the tools to counter.

The Nuggets won three of four regular-season games against the Blazers, splitting the two games they played in April. However, those four games were decided by a total of 20 points with the Nuggets taking one- and three-point wins earlier in the season. Game 1 should set the tone for a competitive, fun and high-scoring series.
