Is MLW in talks with Jon Moxley? It looks like they want us to think so
By Emily Pratt
MLW posted an article on their website about being in talks with a free agent who fits their current “Rise of the Renegades” theme.
When the wrestler formerly known as Dean Ambrose posted a teaser trailer-style video about his return to the character of Jon Moxley, complete with barbed wire, it fueled speculation about where the former WWE Superstar would next appear. Would his return be a general tour of the indies or could he sign with another major company like IMPACT or AEW?
From an article posted on their website today, it looks like MLW is either in talks with Moxley or trying to make sure they’re in the conversation about where he’ll show up next. The faux news article includes:
"One of the preeminent free agents in the sport was spotted arriving at MLW’s new headquarters last week for meetings … As to who the free agent in question is, well, MLW.com is under a temporary gag order until a deal has been inked. A league official did offer a hint: “The athlete in question fits in with MLW’s ‘rise of the renegades’ era.”"
Jon Moxley is, as far as the public knows, a free agent and could be described as a renegade, a term defined by Merriam-Webster as “a deserter from one faith, cause, or allegiance to another” or “an individual who rejects lawful or conventional behavior.” However, so could anyone who recently asked for their released from WWE, and so could Jiro “Ikemen” Kuroshio, recently a free agent from Wrestle-1 — a man who wears jackets like that clearly does not worry about adhering to conventions.
If the mysterious free agent mentioned in this article ends up being Moxley and ends up signing with MLW, maybe we could see him throw hands with L.A. Park and Mance Warner and Jimmy Havoc soon, perhaps alongside his former tag partner Sami Callihan. But as far as we know so far, this report could be about anyone and Mox could be going anywhere.
