The professional wrestler formerly known as Dean Ambrose has officially returned to his roots as Jon Moxley, but what exactly does this all mean for his future in pro wrestling?

Minutes after the clock struck midnight on Wednesday night and we were all brought into the month of May, something surprising happened. Jon Moxley sent out a tweet. The professional wrestler formerly known as Dean Ambrose has been infamous for having no desire to tweet at all during his WWE run, but now that he is free from that company it looks like he isn’t wasting any time making his presence felt on social media.

The Twitter account in question is his former Dean Ambrose Twitter account that WWE forced him to get when he joined the company several years ago. And even though he didn’t tweet at all during his WWE career, he obtained not only a massive follower count of over 550,000 followers but the coveted blue check mark of verification as well.

Moxley tweeted a 90-second promo announcing his return to the world of professional wrestling. It started off with him in a jail cell counting down his days to freedom, clearly a shot at how he felt about his time with WWE. He breaks out of jail — while running from dogs in pursuit, perhaps a nod to The Shield and the “Hounds of Justice” — and steals barbwire from the fence and wraps it around his arm and fist (a nod to his pre-WWE days as a noted hardcore wrestler). This was followed by a brief training montage and the announcement of his former name — MOX — at the end.

While no company was mentioned, the production value for this piece was incredibly high and one would think that Moxley wouldn’t be the one to spend on such an elaborate piece. Is this a sign that his arrival to AEW is a done deal?

There is a very good chance that we will see Moxley pop up in Las Vegas on May 25 for Double or Nothing, and the fact that he lives there locally makes it all the easier for them to hide him prior to his AEW debut in the MGM Grand. But if somehow this video isn’t about his impending arrival to All Elite Wrestling what could it be?
