Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley announced for AEW All Out
All Elite Wrestling made official what we all were suspecting: Jon Moxley will face Kenny Omega at All Out in August.
All Elite Wrestling has two major shows ahead of their return to Chicagoland on August 31 for All Out. And while the cards for Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen are still being rounded out, it’s also time to start announcing matches for All Out ahead of tickets going on sale on June 14.
AEW made the announcement on Thursday and it’s a big one: Kenny Omega will be facing Jon Moxley. This match seemed like an inevitability, given that Moxley attacked Omega (and also Chris Jericho) following Omega and Jericho’s main event match at Double or Nothing in May.
Moxley has been a busy man since making his AEW debut. He had a backstage confrontation with Joey Janela at Double or Nothing which has led to the two being set for a match at AEW’s Fyter Fest on June 29. He made his New Japan Pro Wrestling debut at the final of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, defeating Juice Robinson and winning the IWGP United States Championship. And now he’s going to try to take Omega to the extreme in a dream match at the end of August.
This is the second match confirmed by AEW for All Out. The other is for the AEW World Championship and features the aforementioned Jericho versus “Hangman” Adam Page. Jericho won the title opportunity by defeating Omega at Double or Nothing, while Page earned his by winning the pre-show Casino Battle Royale.
While Moxley is not in AEW’s title picture just yet, a match against an internationally-renowned ace like Omega will certainly put him on that path, particularly if he wins. At the very least, this high-profile signing in Moxley will get quite the high-profile opponent on what is sure to be among AEW’s biggest stages of the year.
