Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela teased on Being The Elite

Fans might have just been shown who will be Jon Moxley’s debut opponent in AEW as Joey Janela was shown in a heated backstage moment with Moxley on this week’s Being the Elite.

Jon Moxley is hitting the ground running with his return to the wrestling scene as he has now been confirmed as working with All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and several other smaller indie companies.

Moxley has also been confirmed for having two upcoming matches for the Connecticut wrestling company, Northeast Wrestling. Moxley will be taking on fellow AEW roster members Darby Allin on June 14 and Pentagon Jr. on August 1.

But the big question that remains is who will be Moxley’s first opponent in AEW.

AEW has already confirmed that Moxley will be making his AEW in-ring debut at their next event, Fyter Fest on June 29 in Daytona Beach.

The Young Bucks’ YouTube show, Being The Elite, might have just answered the question of who his opponent will be.

Moxley was shown pacing backstage after his attack on Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing when indie star Joey Janela walked into frame. Janela laughed and pulled out a cigarette as he stared at Moxley. Moxley then faced Janela, took the cigarette out of Janela’s mouth, took a hit of it, proceeded to blow smoke in Janela’s face and then left the room.

This could very well be the genesis of a feud between the two noted hardcore wrestlers and could be an indicator that Janela will be Moxley’s debut opponent in AEW.

Expect to see more segments like this on the way towards Fyter Fest as Moxley’s direction and debut opponent become more clear.

Update: AEW confirmed on Monday night that Moxley and Janela will face off at Fyter Fest on Saturday, June 19 in Daytona Beach Florida:

Moxley and Janela have both shown disregard for their bodies in death matches in the past. Will this one be the next on that ever-growing list? Janela said in April that he’s “retired” from deathmatch wrestling, but will Moxley drag that side of him out again?

Next. Jon Moxley is headed to New Japan Pro Wrestling. dark
