AEW Fyter Fest preview: Hangman Page vs. MJF vs. Jungle Boy vs. Jimmy Havoc
By Paul Bradley
In one of the odder matches on the Fyter Fest card, four of the hottest properties in AEW will be looking to stake their claims as main event contenders.
Coming out of Double or Nothing as the Casino Battle Royale winner, Hangman Page had the eyes of the entire AEW fanbase upon him. Many wondered what his next match would be and if it might even be for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
But now we know that Chicago’s All Out on August 31 will be the time and place for Hangman vs Chris Jericho for the AEW title, so we have some time to fill on the way to that marquee match.
Enter Page’s other three Fyter Fest competitors.
In storyline, Hangman wanted to fight MJF but due to some communication issues when talking on the phone with one of the Young Bucks he has been placed in a four-way match with MJF and two other men who have had issues with MJF.

MJF, the main antagonist in this match, drew Hangman’s ire when he came out at Double or Nothing and ran down WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart in front of the Las Vegas audience. MJF’s antics then, and also in the battle royal, seemed to rub a lot of other roster members the wrong way and he looks to be the top target in the match on June 29.
Jungle Boy, the rookie blue-chipper, has the most to prove in this match as his showing in the Double or Nothing battle royal was nothing to write home about and he hasn’t received a storyline yet in AEW outside of this match beyond appearances with Luchasaurus on Being the Elite. Expect a good portion of this match to be focused on highlighting this up-and-comer.
Jimmy Havoc, the wild card, is an interesting wrinkle to add to this match as his style mainly revolves around hardcore matches. But he has a superb technical base that he will hopefully show off in this match. Havoc is coming into this contest as the biggest underdog, but the “King of the Goths” made his name on being unpredictable so don’t count him out yet.
This match has quite a few jobs to do when it comes to building up all four of these talents, but fans should expect the match to be a success in accomplishing what it has set out to do.
