Being the Elite recap for June 10, 2019: Dark Order

facebooktwitterreddit

A weekly recap of the hit YouTube series Being the Elite, featuring the stars of AEW like the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Cody and others.

Being the Elite opens up this week with Jungle Boy in full gear at a grocery store trying to reach the top shelf to grab some cereal but couldn’t get there. Luckily for him, Luchasaurus, who was also in full gear, was there to help him and puts Jungle Boy up on his shoulders so he could grab the Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

They proceeded to shop around the store and Luchasaurus tried to stock up on a bunch of meat products but Jungle Boy insisted they buy a bunch of bananas instead, leaving Luchasaurus looking less than pleased. It was definitely an entertaining opening and these two work very well together.

After the 8-bit opening, we go to what would be the running theme of this week’s show as “Hangman” Adam Page is on the phone with Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks. He tells him that he wants MJF at Fyter Fest but his phone keeps breaking up and Nick can’t understand him. Page mentions the word Jungle and Nick assumes he wants to face Jungle Boy so they make the match official for Fyter Fest.

Next, we see MJF hanging up a giant poster of Cody next to one of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair at the Create-A-Pro Wrestling School which is run by one-half of the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions, Curt Hawkins. While MJF admires his handiwork he is approached by Johnny Collins, who doesn’t believe that the owners of the school will be happy about the Cody poster being put up like that.

MJF apologizes in typical MJF manner, where he’s apologizing but it’s clear he’s not really sorry about it at all. He offers to buy Collins some ice cream which he’s very happy about. As they walk off the screen, however, it sounds like Collins receives a beatdown at the hands of MJF.

After that the cameras head back in front of the poster. Collins has an ice cream cone in his hand and MJF’s arm roughly around his shoulder as he proclaims that the poster is fine and that MJF is the salt of the Earth. It was a very entertaining segment to show off MJF’s demeanor. The guy is a fantastic heel and the sky is the limit for him in AEW.

We are then taken to a promo from the team formally known as the Super Smash Bros. We can only assume due to the rights issues of that name with Nintendo that’s the reason they weren’t mentioned as such on Double or Nothing because they didn’t want to deal with any legal issues. The team is now known as the Dark Order and made their intentions known to wreak havoc on the AEW tag team division.

Afterward, we go back to Page, who is less than pleased about the match with Jungle Boy because he wanted MJF instead. He questions if Nick is still having problems hearing him and mentions that “this is havoc.” To which, of course, Nick takes to mean that Page wanted to wrestle Jimmy Havoc and told him that he’ fix it. We get a graphic to announce Page will be facing Havoc instead.

Brandon Cutler meets up with Peter Avalon and they discuss how great Double or Nothing was. Cutler wants to know what Avalon’s favorite part was and he proceeded to have a daydream about the other Librarian, Leva Bates. Cutler snaps him out of it and again asks him what his favorite part of the show was. He says he has to tell him something but he has to keep it hushed and does his Librarian pose before leaning in and whispering something to Cutler. We assume he’s telling him something about Bates that could be a red herring.

There is a video announcement, followed by some words from Matt Jackson to announce that the Young Bucks will be competing at House of Glory on August 9 at High Intensity 8. Matt says they were first ever House of Glory Tag Team Champions and that he and his brother were very excited to work for them again in August for a match and a meet and greet opportunity with the fans.

He did mention however that this is probably the last Young Bucks independent match ever. So if you want to see this team one more time before they are strictly All Elite and you’re in New York on August 9, you’re in luck!

After that, there is a commercial for All Out and then a tongue-in-cheek announcement from Cody about the on-sale date and time for the event. He clearly pokes fun at himself about the issues with the tickets for both All In and Double or Nothing. He tries to guarantee it won’t happen this time but Brandi refuses to let him.

It’s nice to see they can joke about it and not take themselves too seriously. Tickets for All Out will go on sale this Friday, June 14, at 12 noon EST. If you don’t want to miss out, make sure you’re ready to grab those tickets immediately because this will no doubt be another sell-out.

There is another BTE Mailbag segment where the stars of Being the Elite answer fan questions that are posted on social media. This week there are questions answered by Christopher Daniels and Sammy Guevara. Make sure to check it out to see if your question was answered this week.

Finally, we return to the running theme of the show as Hangman is flipping out on Nick about being booked to wrestle Havoc now. Nick says he doesn’t know what to do because they’re already booked. He suggests making it a fatal four-way which Page agrees to simply because he wants to get his hands on MJF, so the match is now official.

After Nick gets off the phone with Page, he has a DVD from the Lucha Bros to play. In typical Being the Elite fashion, the crock pot of all things is used to play it. We don’t know how much longer they can come up with new ways to make this gag work, but for now, it’s pretty hilarious that it’s been running for this long.

The video was very short and it was in Spanish but we have been informed by several people that the Lucha Bros confirmed that none other than LA Park, the wrestler formally known as La Parka from WCW, will be their tag team partner at Fyter Fest. Nick, who doesn’t speak any Spanish, isn’t aware of that however, and the show ends with the advertisement of the six-man tag to end the show.
