MLW announces first pay-per-view, Saturday Night SuperFight

On November 2, Major League Wrestling unleashes its first ever pay-per-view, Saturday Night SuperFight.
As first reported by Sports Illustrated, Major League Wrestling will host the company’s inaugural pay-per-view, Saturday Night SuperFight on November 2, 2019, live from Cicero Stadium in Suburban Chicago.
No card has been announced of yet, but expect defenses of the World Heavyweight, Middleweight, National Openweight and Tag Team Championships.
Under the leadership of Court Bauer, MLW debuted in 2002 but initially folded in 2004. The company was rebranded as a podcast network under Bauer, before coming back to prominence in 2017. In its short time, the company has been one of the most successful independent promotions in the U.S., with a weekly television program, MLW Fusion, every Saturday night.
In speaking with Sports Illustrated, Bauer said, “The evolution of a promotion is to produce more live content, and another milestone for us is pay-per-view. And now, we’re going to get there with Saturday Night SuperFight on November 2.”
He added, “[n]ow the onus is on us to deliver something that feels different, especially in such a competitive environment. So we’re going to bring a legitimate superfight to pay-per-view with Saturday Night SuperFight.”
The cost of the pay per view will be $19.95 and is expected to be carried by most cable providers. More information, particularly the match card itself, should be released in the coming months. Bauer confirmed as much: “Watch carefully this summer. This card isn’t going to be thrown together in late October. All the seeds will be planted. And all of the championships will be on the line.”
As far as the planting of those seeds, expect that to start on July 6, when MLW presents Kings of Colosseum, also at Cicero Stadium.
