5 NFL teams that must win in Week 3
Week 3 of the NFL season may be light on must-see matchups, but these games still mean plenty for the five squads that need wins right now.
Teams may not be able to win the Super Bowl in September, but they can certainly make it more difficult for themselves with a tough start. There are ten winless teams after two weeks of action, and the longer teams go without that first W the harder it is for them to get where they want to go.
While it would be easy to go with five 0-2 teams that need victories in order to salvage their seasons, that would also be a bit lazy. We’ll mix in a few squads that already have victories on the board, but we will start this week’s countdown with an 0-2 squad playing on Thursday night.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars came oh-so-close to their first win of the season in Week 2. Trailing the Houston Texans in the final minutes, rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew led a touchdown drive to bring the Jaguars within one.
Coach Doug Marrone made the correct call to go for two and the win, but Leonard Fournette was stopped at the goal line in a controversial finish. As a result, the Jaguars are now 0-2 and in need of a victory this Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans.
In what has become a seemingly annual Thursday nighter, the Jaguars are at home and can take advantage of a Titans’ squad that lost to the Indianapolis Colts in Nashville last week. Marcus Mariota struggled to pass the football in that game, and that should continue against Jacksonville’s talented secondary.
Minshew, for his part, has played well in the absence of quarterback Nick Foles. The Jaguars need more magic from their rookie with a fine mustache in order to get into the win column for the first time in 2019.
