Gardner Minshew nearly led the Jacksonville Jaguars to a massive upset, but a controversial call from the refs may have cost them a win over the Houston Texans.

The Houston Texans struggled mightily to move the football against the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense, leaving the door open for Gardner Minshew to lead a comeback. Minshew did just that, leading Jacksonville down the field in the final minute to toss a touchdown pass to bring the Jaguars within one at 13-12.

After the score, Jaguars’ coach Doug Marrone made the call to go for two and the win. Jacksonville turned and handed the ball to running back Leonard Fournette, who got close to the goal line but was ruled short by the officials.

The play was automatically reviewed with the clock under two minutes, but the referees decided to stick with the call on the field. Jacksonville then went for the onside kick but was unable to recover it, giving the Texans a much-needed victory in controversial fashion.

The result also denied the world a chance for our first real moment of Minshew magic, but he will get another opportunity next week when the Jaguars hit the road again to take on the Denver Broncos.
