DraftKings PGA: 2019 ZOZO Championship Picks and Analysis
This week the PGA Tour continues its Asia tour, landing at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club’s Championship Course. That is in Japan approximately 30 miles East of Tokyo, for us less cultured folk. The ZOZO Championship marks the second leg of three straight tournaments in the Asia swing. The Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club hosts this event for the first time. The par-70, 7,041 yard course is one the shortest courses on the schedule. This course is very different from what we saw at the CJ Cup last week. Trees line the majority of fairways, and it can get tight. Based on what we saw in the Skins Game Sunday, the majority of the big hitters in the field can club down without issue. Accuracy and ball striking will play a huge part in success this week.
We get another Bentgrass week, although the Bentgrass of Asia may play differently from the Bentgrass we have in the states due to the different climate and conditions. Speaking of conditions, we have no idea what could happen here. Accordia is inland and looks protected, but Japan is basically an island so keep an eye on weather conditions.
Congrats to Justin Thomas on the victory. He was in my 3-pack along with Jaq Niemann and Matt Jones, both of which grabbed top-20’s. You are welcome. Now let’s get to the ZOZO!

Due to the condensed field, I am softening my core, and thus am only recommending 3 plays.
$9,900 Adam Scott
This is an Aussie week! I always sling Aussies on zoysia grass. It is what they grow up on, and you like what you like. What is there not to like about Adam Scott? He is as pure as they come with the irons. His driver is garbage, but hopefully he can just hit irons all week. Lets just remember how good his irons are to distract everyone from what putter he brings with him.
$8,500 Marc Leishman
As I already commented on, this is an Aussie week! As with Scott, the zoysia grass is a factor. Leishman played okay last week, but I like the fact that he got his sea legs under him. Leishman is too cheap, as are most golfers in this price range. He is a plus putter, a solid ball-striker, and his approach game is surprisingly good right now (6th in the field based on my model). Do not worry, the driver cannot hurt you this week Marc.
He is not Aussie, but he is my favorite Par-70 golfer in the field. I have stated this before, but it is not something to take lightly. Par 4’s are difficult. Some guys just putt better than the rest of the field. It is a travesty that he is priced in the low 7’s. He did cash a top-20 last week, and he has a slew of them recently.
