Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz 2: Live stream and viewing guide
Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz meet for the second time on Saturday, Nov. 23. The WBC heavyweight title is on the line. Here’s how to watch.
Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs) and Luis Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs) fought in 2018. Ortiz nearly changed the scope of heavyweight boxing in round 7 when he almost knocked out Wilder. Instead, Wilder survived and stopped Ortiz in round 10. Will it be different the second time around?
Due to the action of the first fight and Wilder’s rising popularity, Wilder vs. Ortiz 2 is a pay-per-view affair. The rematch is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, and the PBC on FOX pay-per-view broadcast begins at 9 p.m. ET.
The first bout between Wilder and Ortiz was a thrilling bout that saw Wilder badly hurt, and Ortiz dropped three times before Wilder won via TKO in 10. Hopes are high that the rematch will be as entertaining as the first meeting. That’s one of the reasons why the pay-per-view cost is $74.99.
At Friday’s weigh-in, Ortiz came in at a trim 236.5 pounds. Wilder weighed in at 219.5 pounds, which is around his average weight. Ortiz weighed 241 pounds in their first fight. His physique looks svelte and cut. Ortiz has put a lot into his conditioning for what could be his last shot at a world title.
There are four total contests on the pay-per-view part of the fight cards and four prelim bouts available on FS2 and FOX Deportes for free leading into the pay-per-view card.
One of the boxers featured on the prelim is Wilder’s younger brother Marsellos Wilder (5-1, 2 KOs), who campaigns as a cruiserweight. He fights Dustin Long (2-1-2, 2 KOS). This should be a showcase bout for Marsellos as he continues to build his boxing résumé.
The primary undercard and co-main event on the pay-per-view part features super featherweights Leo Santa Cruz (36-1-1, 19 KOs) and Miguel Flores (24-2, 12 KOs) who battle for a vacant version of WBA title.
WBA “regular” super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa (20-0, 15 KOs) fights Julio Ceja (32-4, 28 KOs) on the pay-per-view card. Figueroa’s title isn’t on the line because Ceja failed to make weight.
Undefeated bantamweight Luis Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) was supposed to meet Emmanuel Rodriguez (19-1, 12 KOs) on the pay-per-view fight card, but Nery missed weight. Rodriguez opted for the fight to be canceled due to “safety reasons,” as reported by Boxrec.com.
