Patrick Mahomes didn’t even play that well, but when it mattered most he made the plays to lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl and he’s already a lock for the Hall of Fame.

It’s a wrap. Patrick Mahomes has guaranteed his spot in Canton. He’s a Hall of Famer.

For 3.5 quarters, Mahomes was playing poorly and it looked like the Chiefs were going to fall to the 49ers in Super Bowl 54. But then Patrick Mahomes remembered he’s Patrick Mahomes and the rest is history.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years and in the process, their legendary young quarterback has already secured his reservation for the Hall of Fame five years after he retires.

Mahomes is the youngest player in NFL history to win an MVP and a Super Bowl.

Not bad for a quarterback Ryan Pace didn’t think was worthy of selecting ahead of Mitchell Trubisky.

Mahomes is just getting started too.

He could be on his way toward being the next Peyton Manning and competing for MVP honors for the next decade. Would anyone be surprised if he ends his career with multiple MVP awards? He’s already got one and I definitely wouldn’t be surprised to see him get another two to three over the next decade or so.

And I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him be the next Tom Brady and compete for Super Bowl titles for the next decade either.

The Chiefs went 50 years between Super Bowl appearances but they might be the favorite to get back there next year. It’s premature to think about a dynasty, but when you have Mahomes under center, it’s not premature to start looking into the future and how great things can be.

Mahomes isn’t alone in clinching his Hall of Fame spot with a Super Bowl 54 win. His head coach, Andy Reid, was already a Hall of Famer, but this ring, might make him a first-ballot Hall of Famer. It might lock up Travis Kelce’s spot in the Hall too.

Depending on how the next few years go for the Chiefs, it might also see Tyrann Mathieu lock up a spot in Canton and Tyreek Hill could be joining them too.

After decades of heartbreak and disappointment, it’s a great time to be a Chiefs fan because they get to watch future Hall of Famer Patrick Mahomes, the best player in the NFL, rip the hearts out of opposing defenses.

Retirement is a long way off, but Mahomes can start prepping his Hall of Fame speech now.
