Nintendo announced a new update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and fans can look forward to Bunny Day coming soon.

You can always count on Animal Crossing to be the bearer of good news. That is unless you owe an outstanding amount of debt to Tom Nook. Nevertheless, Nintendo released a mini version of Nintendo Direct today, right on time with the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons just a week ago.

This new mini Direct came with one big surprise for Animal Crossing fans: Bunny Day is coming! Between April 1-12, Zipper T. Bunny will arrive on your island to spread lots of spring cheer. Islanders will want to grab their shovels and ready their fishing rods because Zipper will be hiding a load of special eggs around your island for you to find. The decorated eggs can be found by either digging up spots on your island or going fishing.

On top of that, the Egg Series will give players new items to craft that are very much in the spirit of Easter, spring, and decorative eggs. This includes decorative egg-shaped balloons, egg crowns, and lots of other pastel-y, eggy goodness.

In order to get this event, players will have to download the Version 1.1.0 update that was released on launch day. Later in April, you can look forward to the Earth Day event as well as an update that will bring in some new features. You can watch the entire Animal Crossing announcement in the video below.

First week sales for Animal Crossing: New Horizons have proved that the game was an instant success. In Japan, New Horizons beat Pokemon Sword & Shield to have the best numbers for a Switch release. And during this novel coronavirus pandemic, the game comes at a time where more people are staying indoors. Fans are already showing off their creativity — creating cool things to wear like NBA jerseys. And, overall, a calm, peaceful video game like Animal Crossing is enough to help people escape from what’s going on in the outside world, if only for a bit.

So, thankfully there are new things to come in Animal Crossing as everyone in the world works through this global pandemic. While most of us can’t go outside, it’s nice knowing the splendors of outside are just a Switch away.

Look out for the Bunny Day event coming early April to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
