4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The franchise with the second-longest current playoff drought in the league recently added blocker Joe Haeg, late of the Indianapolis Colts. He hopes to help an offensive front that struggled at times when it came to pass protection.

The Buccaneers also signed a 20-year veteran signal-caller who has played in nine Super Bowls, won six titles and been named that game’s Most Valuable Player four times…in case you haven’t heard. Yes, 42-year-old Tom Brady will be at the helm of Tampa Bay’s version of the Jolly Roger and looking to get the team into the playoffs for the first time since 2007 when Jon Gruden was the head coach and a 9-7 record was good enough to win the NFC South.

But that’s it as far as veteran pickups for Bruce Arians, who begins his second season as the organization’s latest head coach. There’s actually been more news about who is no longer with the club than who the Bucs may turn around and sign. Five-year quarterback Jameis Winston remains on the open market after leading the NFL in passing yards (5,109) and turnovers (35) this past season.

The team did put the franchise tag on 2019 NFL sack champion Shaquil Barrett. But other than Brady’s arrival and Winston’s becoming a free agent, there hasn’t been a lot of noise coming out of this part of the Sunshine State.
