Carolina Hurricanes compare NHL teams to The Office scenes on Twitter
By Mary Clarke
The Carolina Hurricanes are back at it again on Twitter, this time comparing all 30 NHL teams (plus Seattle!) to scenes from The Office.
The Carolina Hurricanes are taking this downtime with no hockey better than most. Previously, the team had spread love to the rest of the NHL on Twitter in the days after the league had announced the season would be put on pause thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
The gesture was a heartwarming one, especially given now that our new normal has set in and hockey — and sports overall — won’t be returning for some time.
On Tuesday, the Hurricanes upped the ante, this time by comparing all 30 NHL teams — plus the unnamed Seattle franchise — to scenes from The Office. It’s a great premise, as comparing well-known things to one another has been a Twitter staple for awhile now — like this recent one comparing hockey players to Pokemon.
Given The Office dabbled in hockey from time to time, the Hurricanes started off with an easy choice to compare the NHL as a whole to.
From there, however, the references just got better. The Vegas Golden Knights were, obviously, a golden glitter-fest.
The Anaheim Ducks were also a pretty easy reference to find.
The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild were given references in relation to their prominent features of their cities and states. Sorry Winnipeg, but it’s true.
There was a Gloria reference for the St. Louis Blues, as best as the Hurricanes could come up with for them anyway.
And perhaps the best one is the scene they chose for the upcoming Seattle franchise.
Seattle Kraken… confirmed?
That wasn’t all The Office crossover content we got over the last week or so, as Captain, the Washington Capitals’ official dog, recreated the opening theme of the television show… with himself as the lead. The tweet surprisingly also got the attention of The Office‘s official Twitter account as well!
Now this is the crossover hockey content we want to see on Twitter.
