Dak Prescott trade partner: New England Patriots

Maybe its time for the New England Patriots to come to their senses. The Patriots have a talented defense with no threat at quarterback. This may not be the wises time to go into the season with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham or journeyman Brian Hoyer.

Obviously, acquiring Prescott would give them their successor to Tom Brady. Plus, he’s young enough to serve as a franchise quarterback to continue the Patriots run as longtime perennial winners. There’s only one problem, the Patriots need to clear up cap space to acquire Prescott.

To free up cap, the Patriots will need to trade away their guard Joe Thuney. Thuney, 27, is under the franchise tag for the 2020 season as he is due $14.7 million.

While the Patriots have pulled off some masterful trades over the years, it won’t be easy taking Prescott off the Cowboys hands. They would need a package like no other if they were to pull this trade off as their standard draft picks probably won’t cut it. While the Patriots are far from Super Bowl contenders, they aren’t a lock to be a team that finished near the bottom either. But with Prescott they could easily be in the Super Bowl conversation.

The Patriots would need to throw in a playmaker as late picks alone more than likely won’t temp the Cowboys when there are other offers on the table.
