The WWE continued their weekly tradition of Monday Night Raw and this week the action across multiple storylines continued.

Former WWE champion Seth Rollins started out the evening by berating Rey Mysterio and the accolades of the future Hall of Famer. Rollins was holding what he called a retirement ceremony for Mysterio after he attacked him a few weeks prior. That ceremony would not go unnoticed.

That would bring out Aleister Black to set off a one on one match between the two. Before Austin Theory and Murphy could get involved, Humberto Carrillo came down as well to support his former tag team partner. Black had Rollins lined up for the Black Mass to finish things, but a distraction by Theory, Murphy and Carrillo opened the door for Black to roll up Rollins and pin the former champion. Yet, that victory would not be enough to keep Murphy, Theory and Rollins from jumping both Carrillo and Black, leaving them laying face down in the ring.

Apollo Crews had a lot to celebrate as he earned his first WWE title when he won the United States Championship last week. To celebrate, Crews went above and beyond by calling out Kevin Owens as the first challenger to his title. Crews and Owens would put on an exceptional match with both men trading opportunities to win before Angel Garza and Andrade would run down to the ring to interfere, being led by Zelina Vega.

This would lead to an impromptu tag team match between all the parties involved. Andrade and Garza would try all the tricks in the bag, but Crews and Owens would come out victorious when Crews would pin Andrade in the center of the ring.

The IIconics continue to harass the current tag team champions, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. This week the rivalry broke down into a singles match between Billie Kay and Cross. Kay and Cross had an interesting back and forth match, but it would Kay getting what some would call the upset pin to defeat one-half of the tag team champions.

Nia Jax agitates Asuka

Action would continue in the women’s division as contender Nia Jax was out next to face off against Kairi Sane once again. While this match was a bit more competitive than those in recent weeks, the result did not change in the end as Jax leg dropped her way to victory. Before she could do more damage, Asuka would come out to make the save. However, the current Raw Women’s Champion would have her own challenges before the night was over.

While Asuka and Charlotte Flair were battling once again, Jax would use Asuka’s music as a distraction to attack the women’s champion. The challenger would leave the champion laying, but also cost her the match against Flair as she would lose via count-out.

The main event of the evening featured current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre against MVP. McIntyre is poised to defend his title against Bobby Lashley at the upcoming Backlash PPV but had to go against Lashley’s representative MVP first. Lashley’s wife, Lana, did not want to be left out of the picture this time as she came down to the ring as well, much to the chagrin of Lashley and MVP. That would not be enough to keep McIntyre from landing the claymore and pinning MVP. But Lashley jumped into the ring to lock on the full nelson as the show went off the air.

With two weeks left before WWE Backlash, this week’s edition continued to move stories along to build intrigue into the PPV card.
