7. Dallas Cowboys
It feels like the Dallas Cowboys have been talked about as a Super Bowl contender for years. America’s Team is a long way from the glory days of the 1990s, however, failing to reach the NFC Championship Game since winning Super Bowl XXX in 1996.
A history of underachieving under former coach Jason Garrett was partially to blame, but that problem should be fixed with the hire of Mike McCarthy. A proven winner with the Green Bay Packers, McCarthy should immediately get more out of this roster than Garrett did.
Jerry Jones also did a tremendous job at the NFL Draft, loading up the Cowboys’ talented roster with even more dynamic players. CeeDee Lamb fell into Dallas’ lap in the first round, giving the Cowboys the most explosive trio of receivers in football, while Trevon Diggs can help fill the void created by Byron Jones’ departure in free agency.
Add in four free wins against the New York Giants and Washington Redskins to give Dallas a potentially easy trip to an NFC East title. This group would be extremely scary in the playoffs and could easily bring a sixth Lombardi Trophy back to Dallas.
