The Florida State football schedule should get the Noles back to a bowl game.

Mike Norvell looks to bring Florida State football back to national relevancy here soon.

The former Memphis Tigers head coach is not going to change the state of the Seminoles’ football program overnight, but he is expected to get the team back on track after a down last five years. With the Jimbo Fisher era ending rather pathetically and the Willie Taggart the equivalent of a running joke, Norvell is left to pick up the pieces of a fallen empire in Tallahassee.

The spring has already presented some lessons for Norvell to learn after star Marvin Wilson was ready to stage a walkout after Norvell misrepresented his communication efforts with the team in regard to the death of George Floyd. FSU football is ready to move forward together now.

Norvell doesn’t have to be the next Bobby Bowden, nor does he have to be as good as Fisher at the peak of his Florida State football powers. Norvell just has to bring what worked for him in Memphis and hope for the best. If he can lead a basketball school like Memphis to a New Year’s Six bowl, he can surely get Florida State back to winning 10 games annually with that in-state talent.

Though there are obvious roadblocks in the way of Florida State getting back on top in the ACC, most notably having college football’s reigning dynasty in the Clemson Tigers in the same division, there is reason to believe Norvell will eventually have the Seminoles playing in big games once again in the national spotlight.

While Florida State did achieve bowl eligibility a season ago, playing in a meaningless bowl game is now what Seminoles football is about. It’s about striking fear in the opposition, forever unconquered on the college football gridiron. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will Florida State football. Let’s see what they’re up against in the 2020 NCAA season schedule.
