Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. Clemson. 1. 52. Trevor Lawrence. player

The gap between what is becoming a consensus top three at the quarterback position – Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Trey Lance – is not that large.

But when it boils down to pure skill set, it is Lawrence who has the highest upside of the trio and, if he puts a spotty 2019 by his standards behind him and returns to his form of 2020, he will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Blessed with a remarkable arm, incredible poise in the pocket and the rare ability to throw rolling to both his right and his left, Lawrence is a true dual-threat quarterback who is a surprisingly elusive runner for a man of his frame.

Lawrence can instantly transform the fortunes of any NFL franchise, even one as moribund as the Jaguars have been, save for their deep playoff run in the 2017 campaign.

Between the likes of D.J. Chark and Dede Westbrook, there is the offensive talent in Jacksonville for the Jaguars to turn things around quickly. Gardner Minshew harnessed that for periods last season, but Lawrence can do that more consistently and more spectacularly for a franchise that has spent too much of its history in the NFL cellar.
