Young tiger end Jace Sternberger needs to have a breakout campaign for the Packers in 2020.

This offseason, everyone assumed the Green Bay Packers would go out and land a playmaker for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. When the NFL Draft arrived, they were surely going to use a first-round pick on a receiver, right?

Instead, the team selected Utah State quarterback Jordan Love and didn’t draft a single receiver in any of the seven rounds. It came as a major shock, and Green Bay fans were understandably upset with general manager Brian Gutekunst.

With that said, it’ll be on the receivers and tight ends to step up their games even more this season to help out the offense. While Davante Adams is the big name, don’t forget about the other speedsters.

And when it comes to tight end Jace Sternberger, he may not be a household name just yet, but that will need to change in a big way this fall if the Packers want to make a push for another Super Bowl.

When was the last time Rodgers had a reliable, playmaking tight end to throw to? When Green Bay brought in Jimmy Graham, he was supposed to be a stud, but he never lived up to his massive hype. What will come with Sternberger?

The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder appeared in six games during the regular season during his rookie campaign, but didn’t record a single catch. In the playoffs, he caught three balls for 15 yards and a touchdown. Plain and simple, especially with Graham out of town, the pressure will be on Sternberger to lift his game to new heights.

In the short amount of time we saw him on the field during the postseason, he showcased some good hands and is known as a stud blocker as well. Come 2020, he’ll have to continue that strong blocking, but also be ready to make a big play when Rodgers sends the ball in his direction.

Sternberger has all the tools to be a dynamic tight end for the Packers. This fall, Packers fans are certainly hoping he’ll be able to live up to his hype and be a trustworthy option for Rodgers.
