The Packers need more production from their young receivers.

In 2019, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were extremely reliant on three playmakers on offense. They were Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, and Jamaal Williams. Those three players accounted for 59 percent of the Packers total yards in 2019.

If the Packers seriously want to contend for a Super Bowl, they will need far more production from the younger receivers in the locker room. The front office refused to help Rodgers out in that department in free agency and the draft, so it will be up to their current players to step up.

The front office has truly not done Aaron Rodgers any favors, especially when you consider the tight end position. Although Jimmy Graham wasn’t great in 2019, he was still a viable weapon. They let him go and now their top tight end is Jace Sternberger, who caught zero passes last season.

Who will step up for the Packers in 2020?

Between the three of them, Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison totaled only 1,253 yards. Allison is gone, so the onus is on Valdes-Scantling and Lazard to excel next season. Equanimeous St. Brown will also return from injury.

As it stands, the Packers offense if far too predictable. If Rodgers drops back to pass, he’s likely looking for Aaron Jones out of the backfield or Davante Adams. Rodgers didn’t have enough trust in his other receivers last season, and that showed when Adams was out injured.

Lazard and Valdes-Scantling are skilled players. One of them will need to step up and take control of that No. 2 receiver slot behind Davante Adams and put up consistent numbers every week.

The Packers are very close to having one of the best offenses in the league. They have an an all-time quarterback, an elite offensive line, a top-tier wide receiver, and a dynamic running back. They are one piece away from an excellent offense. Someone will need to step into that place this season.
