Astros manager Dusty Baker does not expect any retaliation by his squad.

On Tuesday night, things got very heated between the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers. Many expected the game to be intense due to the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal coming to light during the offseason where it was revealed that they used illegal sign stealing tactics in their World Series victory over the Dodgers in 2017.

Nothing crazy happened for the first five innings, but once the sixth inning got underway Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly beamed Astros batter Alex Bregman. This resulted in a heated exchange between the two that included a lot of salty language.

Later in that same inning, Kelly threw a ball directly at Houston’s Carlos Correa, but he managed to get out of the way. Kelly then struck out Correa and the two got in a heated exchange which resulted in the benches clearing.

The Dodgers and Astros have been a great MLB rivalry since the 2017 World Series, and now with the sign stealing scandal coming to light, the matchups have become even more intense and chippy, and a lot more entertaining as a result.

Baker does not envision his squad looking for revenge, despite Dodgers’ antics

Since the Dodgers were clearly targeting the Astros and trying to get some form of payback for robbing them of a World Series victory, some are wondering if the Astros will come out looking to get even during their game slated for 7:10 ET on Wednesday.

When Houston manager Dusty Baker was asked this question, he said he does not expect his team to retaliate.

Baker stressed that since the Astros did not instigate any of the altercations last night, he expects his team to go out and just play the game.

It is certainly noble of Baker to think his team won’t be looking for revenge, but he is not in control of his players’ actions, and many players have no problem making their feelings about something known, whether it be through words or actions.
