Get your first look at Todd Gurley in a Falcons uniform
Back playing football in the state of Georgia this season, here’s the first look at Todd Gurley in a Falcons uniform.
After a down season by most measures in 2019, and with ongoing concerns about his knee, the Los Angeles Rams parted ways with Todd Gurley this offseason. He landed with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year, $5 million prove-it deal.
It’ll be something of a homecoming for Gurley in Atlanta. He played his college ball at the University of Georgia, where he became a top-10 pick despite missing the end of his final season in 2014 with a torn ACL.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its limits on players being able to be examined medically and cleared, Gurley did not officially pass a physical with the Falcons until early June. There was little doubt that he would pass, but the formality is a good sign for the prospects of a rebound season this year.
As teams come together for training camp, and the health protocols that have to go with it this year, we’re getting a look at players in their new uniforms.

Gurley wore No. 30 with the Rams, and if you subtract three times his college number (3, also the number of years he played at Georgia), you get the No. 21 he’ll wear for the Falcons. He may have just been given 21, but there’s some random logic to him possibly asking for it.
Gurley has expressed some concern about the NFL’s COVID-19 plan, all the way up to suggesting that he’s open to sitting out the season. But for now Falcons fans (as well fantasy football managers who have faith) can be hopeful Gurley suits up in 2020 and produces more toward his pre-2019 level.
