Mike Tyson’s return to the ring has a new date.

2020 has been such a weird year it should not surprise boxing fans to hear that Mike Tyson has a fight scheduled soon.

The former champion was all set to take on another champion in Roy Jones Jr. in September. So much has happened this year it is fair to have a double-take at that sentence. But it is true. However, the match has reportedly been moved to November on a tentative basis.

Mike Tyson’s bizarre return

Tyson is 54 years old and Jones is 51. The two originally had a great plan to make a ton of money fighting each other. Then COVID-19 showed up and the two are now scrambling to make this work.

Selling the match on pay-per-view should still earn good money. And sell it they will. The target market spans all ages as former Vine star Jake Paul is set to fight former NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard. Once again, this is not a shocking statement in 2020.

The main priority now is having this event take place at all. Pushing it back to November 28 gives everyone time and the hope is a vaccine for COVID-19 will be arriving around that time. Saying that date is tentative could allow the promoters to assess the situation in the country and the world and potentially push it back further to a date when fans can be in attendance.

Videos have surfaced recently of Tyson looking to be in great fighting shape. However, he is obviously far past his prime and so is Jones. This is all about the nostalgia, and the money, more than a true prize fight. Yet people are going to pay to watch and now the question is when the fight will actually take place.
