President Trump gives detailed scouting report on Trevor Lawrence like he’s Mel Kiper Jr. (Video)
Trump gave an oddly detailed scouting report on Trevor Lawrence.
As the college football slate is in a massive state of uncertainty, with both the Big Ten and Pac-12 postponing their seasons, President Donald Trump has remained firm in his belief that football should be played this fall, despite dangers presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trump again reiterated his stance on this issue during a press conference on Saturday evening, but then went a bit off track and gave a very detailed scouting report of Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Trump first brought up Lawrence when he said that he had a phone call with him where Lawrence supposedly expressed his desire to play in the fall. And Trump went on to praise Lawrence for how great of a quarterback he is.
Trump talked about Lawrence’s talent like he was a scouting expert
When giving his thoughts on Lawrence, Trump said that he is a “incredible quarterback from an incredible school.” He then went more in-depth, saying that Lawrence has “height, accuracy, a strong arm, and he’s fast.”
He also said that Lawrence will have a great future in the NFL and that he looks faster than the backs who are blocking for him, which again sounds like a typical scouting report for NFL prospects.
In regards to playing in the fall, Trump also said that Lawrence told him that he feels safer on the field with his team compared to not being with his teammates and coaches.
Trump later went on to say during that press conference that he agrees with the ACC, SEC, and Big 12 remaining committed to taking the field this upcoming fall, and that he hopes the Big Ten and Pac-12 will reinstate their fall seasons.
Regardless of what the president or anyone else thinks, the conferences will make the decision that they feel is best for player safety. But he is certainly right in that Lawrence is a great quarterback.
