Jamal Murray runs into Donovan Mitchell in bubble after he dropped 57 points (Video)

Jamal Murray couldn’t help but rub his victory in the face of Donovan Mitchell.
Monday was a very special day for basketball fans because the 2020 NBA Playoffs officially kicked off! The first game on the docket was the Western Conference matchup between the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz. Both squads fought tooth and nail, where they reached overtime in Game 1 of their series. Jazz guard Donavan Mitchell managed to score 57 points in the game, but it wasn’t enough, as the Nuggets pulled away with the 135-127 victory.
Given that the postseason is taking place inside the league’s Walt Disney World bubble, players are bound to run into each other. That’s exactly what happened, as Denver guard Jamal Murray ran into Mitchell right outside the arena after his big performance.
Imagine running into the guy who singlehandedly dropped 57 points on you that same day? That’s quite the awkward situation, if you ask us. But Murray had the bragging rights because he secured the “W.”

Jamal Murray was no slouch in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals
Mitchell’s performance was downright historic, as his 57 points were the third-most points scored in an NBA playoff game. The most points scored belonged to Michael Jordan, who dropped 63 on the Boston Celtics back in 1986. The second-most points went to Elgin Baylor, who dropped 61 points on the Celtics in Game 5 of the 1962 NBA Finals. That’s some good company for “Spida” to join.
While Mitchell’s performance was impressive, you can’t sleep on the day Murray had in Game 1. He scored 36 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed five boards in 40 minutes of action. Denver’s starting point guard shot 13-for-20 from the field while successfully making 6-of-9 shots from 3-point range.
Mitchell and Murray had an outright battle on the hardwood on Monday. If this is a sign of things to come, then this Nuggets-Jazz series will be mandatory viewing for all basketball diehards.
