Martinez was part of the recent Cardinals outbreak

Martinez was placed on the injured list along with other players after contracting the potentially deadly virus. He had never announced his diagnosis, until now. He joins Yadier Molina, Paul DeJong, Junior Fernandez, Kodi Whitley and Edmundo Sosa as a growing list of players who tested positive during a recent outbreak which sidelined the team.

The team was on hiatus for 17 days.
