Kike Hernandez hit a home run then honored Kobe Bryant at home plate.

On Sunday afternoon the Los Angeles Dodgers honored former Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant, who died earlier this year. The day moment was chosen for their Sunday game which would have been Bryant’s 41st birthday and one day before “Kobe Bryant Day” which will take place on 8/24 in honor of his two jersey numbers.

Dodgers second baseman Enrique “Kike” Hernandez also marked the day with his own tribute to the late NBA GOAT. When Hernandez batted in a home run on Sunday he did the traditional “Kobe” with the basket motion, something that’s become slang when throwing something into the trash, the laundry hamper … or pretty much anywhere.

The Dodgers secured 7 home runs in total

Sunday’s game was a home run fest for the team who knocked in seven home runs over the Colorado Rockies, sweeping them in the process. The Dodgers are off on Monday as they travel to San Francisco to face division rivals, the San Francisco Giants.
