Eagles rookie Jalen Reagor inured in practice
Eagles rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor left practice with an apparent wrist injury.
It’s been a rough Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles.
First, quarterback Carson Wentz missed the team’s scrimmage with an unspecified injury. Then, promising rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor joined the injury list as well.
During the team’s scrimmage, Reagor went down, then jogged off the field holding his wrist or his arm, Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green reported on Twitter as it happened.
“Looks to be in pain,” Gowton wrote before adding Reagor’s path back to the locker room with a trainer.
Reagor suffered the injury after making a tackle on a Jalen Hurts’ interception, according to Bo Wulf of The Athletic. Ian Rapoport later clarified it was a shoulder injury:
The extent of Reagor’s injury is unknown, but Eagles fans are right to be a tad concerned. The injury bug hasn’t been kind to them recently.
As Zach Berman of The Athletic pointed out on Twitter, the Eagles are currently practicing without Reagor, offensive lineman Andre Dillard, tight end Dallas Goedert, defensive end Derek Barnett and Wentz, their five most recent top draft picks.
Jalen Reagor is expected to play an early role in the Eagles’ offense.
Pro Football Focus tagged Reagor as one of the rookie wide receivers who should be expected to contribute immediately.
The speedy wideout was a playmaker at TCU as a sophomore, putting up 1,061 yards on 72 receptions. Talent evaluators were willing to overlook his junior season production, which was a clear step down, because of poor quarterback play. What remained for Reagor were clear signs of talent as a receiver who could stretch the field and produce big highlights.
The Eagles put their faith in Reagor by drafting him 21st overall with an eye on improving their downfield attack in 2020.
Of course, for that to happen, both Wentz and Reagor would have to be healthy for the coming season.
