The Bears will start Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback and Twitter is going crazy.

Despite a major regression in 2019 and an 83.0 passer rating, Mitchell Trubisky was named the starting quarterback over Nick Foles ahead of Chicago’s Week 1 opener against the Detroit Lions.

Twitter couldn’t get enough of the fact that one of the most inconsistent quarterbacks in the league was getting another shot as a starter.

Twitter is going crazy after Mitchell Trubisky won the job over Foles

Ryan Pace has had a rough go of it this offseason, and the decision to leave Foles and his humungous contract on the bench only made it worse.

Cam Newton, who the Bears chose not to pursue, is killing it in New England, by the way.

In case you needed a reminder, Trubisky was thought of as a superior prospect when compared to Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.

While Matt Nagy seems to think the former UNC star has improved, not every Bears fan out there is convinced.

Considering Chicago declined his fourth-year option, there is a very real chance that this season will be his “last dance” in the Windy City.

If Trubisky is Michael Jordan in this analogy, Foles is Isiah Thomas, as his pedigree and stats did little to convince Nagy he is QB1 material.

Some Bears fans think that Nagy is punting on the 2020 season to snag Trevor Lawrence. We can’t rule that out yet, can we?

Wide receiver Allen Robinson has to be upset with this decision. He is entering his seventh season in the league, and his quarterbacks have been Trubisky and Blake Bortles.

Trubisky won the starting job despite the fact that Chase Daniel, his former backup and current Lion, was graded as a better passer.

For some reason, the former No. 2 pick dominates Matt Patricia and the Lions. Maybe he’ll turn it around?

Because 2020 has been a year in which nothing has unfolded in the way we expected, maybe this will be the year he finally turns it around. If he doesn’t, he’ll be headed for backup duty ASAP.
