Benny Snell gives the Giants hell with his bell-cow back performance
By John Buhler
It’s time to go pick up Benny Snell and put him on your fantasy team.
In the Rooney Mara Bowl, Benny Snell was un-bull-ievable for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With a mouthguard we all not-so-secretly desire, Snell ran pain train all over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. The former Kentucky Wildcats standout had a good rookie season with the Steelers with 108 carries for 426 yards and two rushing touchdowns, but he’s in for a much bigger sophomore season. Just look at what he did Monday night vs. the G-Men with this mouthguard.

Benny Snell just went in there and took from James Conner in primetime.
James Conner was ineffective against the Giants, as he only had six carries for nine yards before being taken out of the game with an ankle injury. Snell smelled what the rock was cooking on Monday night, as he had 19 carries for a career-high 113 yards. With a tummy tat that is far superior than whatever Ezekiel Elliott put on his belly in quarantine, Snell gives the Steelers a reason to Snellebrate good times!
Complementing an efficient Ben Roethlisberger in his return to the Steelers, Pittsburgh won easily 26-16 at the Meadowlands over the lowly Giants. It could have been a disaster for the Steelers with no running game and then an injury from Conner, but Snell was there to give the Giants hell and be the Pittsburgh bell-cow back this AFC titan needed. Benny the Bandit robbed fantasy points from you.
And that dovetails nicely into this. What is Snell’s fantasy value going forward? Is he the new featured back in the Steelers offense? Can we trust Conner going forward? Do we need to do this week by week? Can you even afford Snell as your high-priced handcuff for Conner who you probably overdrafted in retrospect after tonight? Let’s answer this one question at a time.
Snell didn’t have a reception tonight but does have fantasy value going forward, even if he didn’t find pay dirt. The Steelers will win this year because of the defense, as the offense looks to be a glorified work-in-progress up to this point. Maybe Snell is a catalyst for things moving in the right direction for the Pittsburgh offense? If he is, then this team can contend for a Super Bowl berth.
As for trusting Conner, tonight was a major concern for in him in that department. Though that’s not to say Snell is the featured back for the Steelers going forward, but it might be trending in that direction. So Snell Yeah you’re going to want to take this week-by-week, even if Snell becomes the most expensive handcuff in your fantasy football league. He just might be worth it for you in 2020.
This was a great game and having Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbsteit call it made it even more special.
