Raiders’ Trent Brown hospitalized after scary pregame medical mishap
Trent Brown left the stadium before ever making it onto the field
The Las Vegas Raiders will remain in the playoff hunt after picking a convincing 16-6 victory against the Cleveland Browns. However, perhaps the bigger story is the one that happened hours before the wind started blowing at FirstEnergy Stadium,
Raiders offensive tackle Trent Brown was hospitalized before Sunday’s game after receiving an IV that caused air to enter his bloodstream. He would be wheeled out of the facility and taken to a hospital nearby. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Brown will remain in Cleveland overnight to undergo further testing.
“Honestly, I’m human; I got a little scared for Trent,” Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said, according to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “I was like, Man, I hope he’s OK. We had no clue what was happening. All of a sudden, we come in, and they’re wheeling him out and I’m like, Bro, what is going on? It was crazy and so we prayed.”
Earlier this week, Brown was taken off the COVID19-reserve list after testing positive last month. The entire starting offensive line was sent home following Brown’s testing and were forced to quarantine before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
Brown has been limited in Las Vegas for quite some time
Since signing his four-year $66 million deal last offseason, Brown has missed extensive time with the Raiders due to multiple concerns. Prior to his COVID test, the right tackle was limited in the team opener against Carolina due to a calf injury. He’s been limited in snaps in every game out Kansas City’s showdown earlier last month. In 23 potential games with the organization, Brown has missed 12 starts.
Injuries are a part of the game, but Brown was expected to play Sunday afternoon against Cleveland. Due to a series of unfortunate events, he now will have to undergo further testing, setting by his 2020 season even further.
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Brown. The way Las Vegas’ run game is playing, they’ll need him to complete their offensive line on the way to a postseason push.
